Default Fiber and Healthy Fats - 2 ?'s

I'm getting into body building now, I was told by someone to start eating more calories. For my height and size he said to go in the 2100-2200 range. And to eat a lot of healthy fats. I want to lose a lot of body fat when I start body building.

1- I was on a high fiber diet before this. Is it pointless to eat A LOT fiber now that I'm going to be body building and want to lose a lot of body fat?

2- What's the point of eating a lot of healthy fats in body building, what role do they play?

1. A high fiber diet is still a good idea. High fiber along with good water intake will help too keep things moving on a high protein diet. It will also help rid the body of some cholesterol as well which may have some benefits if you’re eating a lot of red meat. Another plus is many of the high fiber vegetables out there will fit in perfectly to a traditional body building diet. Personally I stick to Fiber One cereal for the ease of use factor.

2. Good fats, HUFA’s (highly unsaturated fatty acids) are very good for you. In a fat sparing diet you need to consume these fatty acids so your body can function optimally. Your cerebral spinal fluid and cell membranes love the stuff. Depending on what camp your in, I work at a company that focuses on applications for algal derived DHA so I’m bias, the chain of importance goes: DHA > EPA > ARA. There is a ton of info out there so look around and find what’s best for you. I take 3-2 grams of fish oil a day w/ an additional 250-500mg DHA.

Thanks for letting me know.

I like to eat fiber one cereal bars. Have you tried those? 1 bar has 9g of fiber. They are real easy to eat also. If you have two then that's already half of your daily fiber.

But the 10 grams of sugar -- looks like a lot is refined sugar -- and chemicals in that bar make it your enemy.
