http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070912/...ife_expectancy
According to a study in 2005, the average life expectancy is 78 years. This is a 2.2 year increase from 1995, where the life expectancy was 75.8 years. The difference is even larger from 1955 when the life expectancy was 69.5 years. The primary reason for said increase: decrease in heart-disease and stroke related deaths. Cancer deaths, however, showed a marginal increase. The top 5 nations that have the highest life expectancy (in decreasing order): 1. Andorra (a tiny country between Spain and France). 2. Japan 3. Macau 4. San Marino 5. Singapore

I'm thinking improved diets, nutritional awareness and fitness activity are the reasons for preventable heart disease. Sure, some of heart disease factors are hereditary but over 10 years ago there was no Atkins, South Beach or other such diets. Food items like sushi were considered hideous and diet anything was usually laughed at. Fitness has become more mainstream as well.
USA! USA! Looking at the top five, the folks in Japan, Macau and Singapore are also probably some of the hardest working folk in the world, which seems like there are more negative stress factors coming into play? Are there unseen psychological factors that increase life expectancy?

Looks like your attitude to do productive things died long ago...
