I put this in the fitness and nutrition section because there is no "general martial arts" section or anywhere else where I could think this could fit. Also because I use tricking, Parkour, and free running as conditioning and training anyway. Allright, for those of you who dont know what they are, Tricking is martial arts tricks, it incorporates moves from gymnastics, capoeira, breakdancing, and many different martiala rts that have a lot of kicks such as TKD. It has spins, flips, kicks, and generally anything that looks hell cool, and no for all you idiots out there, I dont think it can actually work in a fight, nor would I be stupid enough to try and make it work in a fight, and pretty much all trickers are the same. Though it is very great for increasing speed in your egs, flexibility, explosive strength, abs, etc. etc. So yeah, it wont work in a fight, but the benefits of knowing how to do it will, besides its great to know how to show-off at parties and all without just performing a standard kata, or some decent techniques, instead throw a butterfly twist, swingthrough gainer flashkick! www.trickstutorials.com for more info on tricking, its a great site, especially for begginners, also bilang.com is good for samplers of tricking. Ok.. and now a question... Does anyone here allready do tricking?
Onto Parkour and free running! In essence the started out as the same thing, but after a while they were divided as parkour is the quickest and most efficient way to get from one spot to another despite the obstacles, while free running is doing it however you feel like it, so free running is like parkour, but it incorporates a lot more fancy moves. In parkour they use a lot of vaults, jumps, balancing, etc. etc. to overcome obstacles, its kind of like the art of running or chasing somone... or tresspassing :P so naturally its good for your cardio, leg and arm strength (what with all the jumping, climbing, vaulting over obstacles, etc.), reflexes, AND if your faced with too many attackers to deal with, just run up a wall and be outa there! Besides its hell fuin, as is tricking, as is free-running. So anyone here allready do parkour or free running?? Ok, so naturally both these thigns are great for supplementing martial arts training, and are very very fun and enjoyable, not just to do but to watch, so they are awesome to show off with too. SO yeah, anyone do any of them? done any of them? knows anyone that does any of them? will do them? and just general thoughts. I aint open to critisism of the things I love unless its constructive, so take your negative thoughts elsewhere if your just gonna jump down my throuight about how it doesnt relate "directly" to matial arts, or if your gonna go on about how "ineffective" it is. |

I would llke to be able to do parkour but i think i wont be able ot do either of those, im in the 90kg bracket and i can see myself not make some of those jumps.
Tricking doesnt insterest me in the slightest but parkour looks like it would be really good fun and if i was a criminal a great way to make a getaway!

Now naturally your gonna wanna start off with the small things you can do, or things that are more simple than the huge ones. Also another note on my heavy friend, he may not be able to jump far distances, but he can definately balance, and has precision now that usually makes up for it, and can be attained no matter how heavy you are. So yeah, its just little things, but its still awesome you know? I will put some vids up on youtube or somthing and send the link of the stuff we do that anyone can. |

That junk is as annoying (and about as relevant to fighting) as greasy little skateboard kids throwing themselves around a busy sidewalk while people are trying to get to work, old ladies are shuffling along as best they can, and families are pushing baby carriages by. Its about two steps removed from that fat kid who put himself on youtube playing lightsaber.

Haha! yeah seems like it, but hey! Everyone does what they do, if thats what you choose to do with yuor life, I cant stop you as for all you know I am some lil wanna-be martial artist, tricker, tracer that just sits behind his computer getting fatter and fatter while wishing he could do somthing and wondering why the world is against him... Hmm got a bit carried away there! But yeah, basically I dont mind if you say stuff, I mean it can be interesting and adds dynamics to a conversation, besides the amount of eople that take the bait you put out is just freakin' funny! But somtimes it dampens the mood. Basically I dont mind what you say as everyone has there oppinions and everyone has the right to voice them, so say as you want to. But try to hold back on things that are not contructive in anyway as everyone should be trying to better themselves and everyone around them ^_^
