Default High Heart Rate

...I'm 22, my RESTING heart rate is about 111 and my bloodpressure is 120/80.

I am in pretty good physical condition, I am NOT a porker... I'm not cut either, but my physique now is about average to athletic...

I don't get winded easy, but when I do ANY type of exercise lately, my heart rate skyrockets to around 150 and I've pushed it past 200 on more than a dew occasions without really paying attention.

Somebody told me that this isn't only dangerous, but could possibly cause irreperable damage to my cardiac muscles and generally **** me in the long run.

Since, I have quit smoking, I rarely drink anymore...and I have been making all reasonable efforts to eat better (as well as I can being an indigent student.) Is there anything else, besides gradual successions (I feel like a fucking pussy, I want to push myself, but I also don't want to do damage if this person is right) in my cardio that will help?

i would really check again as your BP is spot on normal, id be suprised if your resting rate is really that high, try taking your pulse in the morning when you wake up and stay relaxed when you do it.

Id get 10 readings or so when you are in a really relaxed state and if its still that high then i suggest you see your doctor and discuss it with him.
I have a feeling you are stressed and suffering from anxiety but your BP seems ok, so may just be you taking your pulse at the wrong time.

The heart rate is actually fairly consistent...I rarely dip below 100. I work at a treatment facility, so I chart myself after the residents fall asleep.

Default High Heart Rate...

A normal heart rate is 60 to 100 beats per minute. Tachycardia is considered a heart rate of greater than 100 beats per minute. Seriously, go to the doctor....

Not much to add, just a thanks for this thread; I knew there was something I was likely to forget to bring up during my check up tomorrow.

111 iz a bit fast, you can see your doctor and have an EKG done, or evn an ultrasound, which will probably turn up nothing, and your doctor will tell you your just stressed or something along thoze linez. Az long az your not having any fainting/dizzy spellz or consistent heart palpitationz, sharp pains in your chest, i wouldnt worry too much. It could be something you eat though thtz keeping it alittle high, anything with caffeine or stimulants like coffee, soda, energy drinkz could do it, any crap foodz or drinks with MSG, aspertame, stuff like that. Get it checked out if you can but dont stress over it.

I talked to the nurse on staff...she said that it was probably because I QUIT smoking...apparently the body freaks out trying to adjust itself to the change and rebuild, but it should come back to normal if I can stay away from the nicotine.
