The carbs from pasta get changed into body fat more quickly than fat, actually. Try a low carb, high protein and moderate fat diet. Eating some pasta is fine just not in large amounts, just try to emphasize lean meats and try not to worry too much about fat intake. At least it works for me. If it does not work for you, try asking a competitive bodybuilder. Pro or amatuer.
Energy from carbs is short term. Protein energy lasts longer. After you workout, your body needs carbs to replenish glycogen in the muscles. Glycogen is the muscles' energy source which gets used up during exercise. There is about a 1/2 hour to 45 minute period after exercise when your body will absorb carbs quickly to replenish the glycogen. |

bikers right --dont forget alchol has a lot of carbs as well...the solution for that and when you want to eat something that may have a lot of carbs is a "carb blocker" go to your local nutrition store and ask for one, the one i use blocks up to a 1000gm (or something like that-forgot what they were measure in) of carbs from being used by your system

also dont do anything like the atkins diet says (eliminating all carbs from your diet) because carbs are very good for you and while if you did eliminate them all you would definetly lose weight, it we be gained right back the moment you started eating even a small amount again

Take in everything with moderation. Protien can also be turned into fat, but carbs take longer.
I suggest eating protien before you workout. If its more cardio, than eat a little bit more carbs than protien. But carbs will really be short term, so eat carbs maybe a helf hour to an hour before training, and protien two hours before training. After you workout, chug down some carbs. If you weight training, chug down some carbs and protien. Protien shakes are good. Eat protien about an hour to two hours later. But becareful with the calories if you're trying to lose weight.

Sure, man. But listen. Don't get to hung up on nutrition. I strongly beleive than your training comes first. Listen to your body when you eat. Eat when you get hungry, don't starve yourself, and don't overeat.
I'd rather undertrain than overeat or starve.
