Default Body For Life - Anyone read this book?

I'm currently trying to get in better shape. I'm 5'11" and 244 pounds. The guys at my local Judo club don't seem to be real enthusiastic when it comes to grappling with me becaus of my size. I've also got a good sized gut that I'd like to get rid of.

I'm doing my own diet right now but it doesn't seem like something that can last. Here's my diet plan:

Eat anything I want for breakfast. Absolutely anything.

Fruits and vegetables the rest of the day, with juice or water.

Only drink pop on my days off form work, and no more than 2 cans in one day.

Try not to eat anything after 6pm.

This diet has been working but I already know I won't be able to stick to it. I've lost 10 pounds so far and I'm eating all the fruits and vegetables I want. There's just not enough variety in what I'm eating.

If anyone here has read Bill Phillips' book "Body For Life" please let me know what you think of the book and how it compares to the diet plan I have laid out. I've heard from a lot of people that his book is great and the diet plan lets you eat a large variety of food and quite a bit of it.

I would really like to get down to around 200 or 210 pounds. That's what I weighed when I was a teenager and I was able to do a lot more. I'm hopefully going to be competing in Judo tournaments so I have to get rid of the extra weight.

I have read B-F-L but not tried it myself. Some people I quite trust that they know what they're talking about say it's good for loosing fat but not that good for a skinny man trying to gain muscle. So you might want to try it out.

A good thing about it's diet is that there's no counting calories, so it's a lot more practical than the pain-in-the-rear-end diets where you are to weigh and count everything you eat. In B-F-L you just determine what is "a serving" and then you count servings instead of calories. Very good approach that is easy to stick to.

Thumbs up BFL is the Real deal

Read Body for Life (from Library) then bought the book myself. Used it and it truly transformed me! dropped 15+ lbs and leaner, stronger and feel better than ever. I wasn't a fat slob by the way... Just ate bad foods (at wrong times, etc). Worth the money... give it a shot.

I lost 55 pounds in 16-18 weeks last year using the same methods as in BFL.

I ate 5-6 meals a day, matched carbs and protein 1:1 in each meal plus a whey protein supplement twice a day and creatine twice a day.

I went from 260lb's and 42" waist to my current 205lb's and a 34" waist. That was last year and while I'm not as gung-ho as I was the weight has not come back and I'm stil making gains in strength and endurance.

All I can say is GO FOR IT! You won't be sorry.
