Heavy bag too Hard or am I too Soft?

How do know when a heavy bags to hard? I've have gotten sores on my hands from hitting mine with 16oz boxing gloves. I would like to hit on it everyday but I can't because my hands are
to sore or cramped. Also, I have read that when you buy a filled bag you should restuff it because it is machine stuffed and packed to tight, is this true. Thanks in advance.

This could be anything. Were are the sores and what are they like? Does it hurt your wrists? How heavy is the bag?

I think people are too blase about their hands, you need to look after them.

If you do want to punch one, and punch it alot, it may be better to buy proper bag gloves as well as hand wraps. Also build up the power and rounds on the bag over time.

I had a similar problem when I first got my bag. For me it was a couple of things. First, conditioning in hitting the bag whether it was with punches, knees, elbows or kicks. This will come with time in working out on the bag. The other major problem was a number of times I was not delivering the strike correctly. You should check that your form is correct.

    Hope this helps

when i am puching my bag i occasiolly check my form and make sure my wrists are the way they are supposed to be. i don't have bad form because i always make sure its right. i also noticed you said that you said your hand gets cramped-make sure you are not holding your fist to tight or it will cramp. your hands should be free until the moment of impact. and when you mean sore do you mean knuckles sore or hand? on the other hand you might have really weak wrists and like bri bad teeth thai said you should wrap them. but also keep in mind i don't use boxing gloves i use grappling gloves. but personally i don't think its the bag.

A very good way to catch problems with your technique is to video tape yourself while you train. What you think you see when you are doing the technique may not be what you are actually doing.
