Default Hmm would this be skinny ?

I`m at 5 foot 4, 110 Pounds. Waste line is like 27 inch.. I got that skinny genetics. And I`ve tried to put some pounds on but its too hard for me (been sh**ting a lot), maybe it is because I`m not lifting weights but I don`t want to. Was anyone here skinny or fat when they were younger, and how about now ?

i was 5 foot 6, 115 lbs when i was in grade 9, iv gained 6 inches and about 40 lbs since then.

most kids who are active are skinny at your age. (or at least as skinny as there ever going to be)

lol your only going to get bigger.

your skinny, but as long as your healthy it doesn't matter, and from what i hear from your post your in alot better shape then i was at your age.

At 14 and 15 I was 5'10 118 lbs and had a 29 inch waist. I also ran 3 miles a day and had a resting heart rate below 50 beats a minute.
I was also training 4 hours a night 5 days a week and going to tournament every other weekend. I also wrestled

At 16 I was 5'10 135lbs 30 inch waist still training

at 18 I was 155 to 160 32 inch waist

I have fairly slow genetics and when I was 21 people still would guess I was 15 or 16.

I didn't really start to fill out till I turned 26.

I went for a 15 inch neck to an 18 inch neck overnight practically. My waist went from 32 to 36 in 6 months and 6 months later to a 39. My chest expanded and the arms got bigger and I had to spend a fortune on new clothes every couple months.

Buying suites was a pain and got quite expensive.

When I was younger I never considered myself skinny. I always had a belly on me, not much of one but I never had a sixpack even when I was running 3 or 4 miles everynight.

I really wouldn't be to concerned with being skinny. If you were noticably over weight that would be a different story. But you are still a kid. You will grow and your body with bulk up as you get older.

You may find that even if you did everything that body builders due to get size that you may not be able to get much bigger. You may have a very high metabolism.

And if you have Ectormorphic genes you can give up looking like a mesomorph, you will never get there. That doesn't mean you can't get into great shape an have some size.

I am and Endomorph. So I carry more fat around my midsection and have never been able to cut it and get defined. When I work out I just get bigger and bigger.

Funny thing is I am not as tall as I used to be. Last I measured at only 5'8. Don't ask me how but I have lost about 2 and a half inches of height.

I figure the running which cause the bones in my legs to start growing into my kneecap must have also caused the loss of height as did all the jumping around in bare feet on concrete floors.

Generally people do resemble their parents so if they are short you will have a tendency to be short. However this is not always the case. Many people grow to be larger than both their parents. You may need to look to the height of your grandparents on both sides.

If all your grandparents are short and your parents are short, you will probably be short as well. But anything is possible.

I do not believe jumping rope will give you more hormones or make you get taller.

i got an asian friend who is around 6'1 6'2 all his relatives to his knowledge are very short. his parents are around 5'5 .

it has to do with your own genetics, as well as your diet.

Yes many asians when they move to the united states or other parts of the world get taller. That is because there is a higher amount of protien in these diets. Many asians really suffer from malnutrition according to western standards.

If you do not eat enough you will not grow. But If your parents ate a similar diet to what you eat and their parents did the same you can expect to follow in their footsteps. But this is not always the case as genetics is a tricky business.

3 generations of white families have been known to have a black child. It is not likely but it does happen.

I used to be very skinny but I'm not so bad now. I know that this probably belongs on another thread but: a while ago I was in the gym and one of the guys who goes to my Muay Thai was there. He is very muscular but he was lifting the same amount as me. It just goes to show that muscle mass and strength are two completely different things. Body mass index (height in meters squared divided by weight) is a good way to see how skinny you are. 19 - 25 is normal. My little brother has a body mass index of 16. Mine is 22 (perfect) but I used to be just like him, the moral is: active children are often skinny but there's no reason to think that just because you are skinny now, that you will always be like that. Besides is it really such a bad thing to be thin?

Lizard, it is kinda disturbing to see my bones stick out, also disgusting for other people if they ever see me swimming

Putting on some weight is a big problem, especially if my mom doesn't cook anything but Filipino food, I dunno what the hell I`m gonna get from that.

Nobody is perfect. It can't be that bad. Eat a few extra meals (like a fried egg and a packet of doritoes before you go to bed), wait until you are older, if you still think you're too thin THEN you can start weight lifting.

I was very skinny until about 8th grade when I started getting serious about football and weight training. All through high school I was 5’ 11” my football weight 185 and my wrestling weight low 170s. Loosing the weight not that difficult, gaining the weight back for next football season very difficult. I drank half and half every morning and night, as well as ate many a peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for snacks.

Now I am 38 years old. I go to boxing 2 times a weak and Karate 2 a week. I also run 3 miles 3 times per week and an avid backpacker, and lift weights 2 times a week. I’m still 5’11” but now I weigh 210lbs. No matter how hard I work out I cannot loose any weight and if I slow down any I begin to put weight on very fast. I injured my back and couldn’t work out for about six weeks and went up to 225lbs. I’m back to 210 now. No I don’t exactly diet but I eat healthy.
