Default Training With A Groin Pull

I pulled my left groin 3 months ago.

I went to an orthopedic doctor about it, because I thought my hip was out of joint.

He said my hip was fine and that I just had a groin pull.

He said for me to do no exercise for a month, save for walking.

I walked for the month, then I tried some pushups and sit-ups this week.

I ached in my left hip some Sunday.

The past two days I just felt tight in my left groin and ached some in it.

Should I leave pushups and sit-ups alone?

Or what?

What do yall suggest?

Did he say what level of a strain it was? First, Second or Third?

You should try some isometric contractions and see if you are pain free when you do it. If you are pain free while doing some light isometric contractions you could start with some side leg lifts in which the bottom injured leg is slowly lifted towards the ceiling.

You should probably continue to apply ice.

Hope that helps.

Tim Mousel,

I have never had any sweliing or discoloration with the strain.

The strain area was a little warm one time for a few minutes, but I have never had nay swelling or discoloration.

Do you think it was very serious?

Hi,

It's hard to say if it's serious without being able to see it. My guess would be that it's not too bad and in time you'll recover just fine. I base this on the fact that your doc didn't put in physical therapy.

Discoloration is not always a good indicator as to the extent of the problem.

On a side note, I start therapy on Monday for a strained biceps femoris. The ultrasound should clear mine up in no time...hopefully!

Tim Mousel,

I never had any swelling.

Is that a good sign?

Also, what does ultra-sound do to a muscle strain?

The orthopedic docor told me that I could do no exercise, save for walking for a month. He said I could walk 20 minutes twice per day.

I was in such bad shape though that walking 7 minutes got to me.

I have been in bad shape for 3 years.

If my strain was bad, would he tell me I could walk 20 min 2 times per day?

At least he's not having you rest it. As far as strains are concerned, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Just take your time and get back into action slowly.

Would it be okay to add two muntes to my 20 min walks per every other week?

Also should I do the sitting groin stretch gently and the side leg raises?
