Hormat!
Finally we get an Indonesian forum! This is great! Let's find out what styles and systems we've got here. My (sadly limited) background is in Pencak Silat Mande Muda, and a very little bit of Inosanto blend.

Wow is right!
If you display one knife in your right hand but kill with the knife hidden in your left hand... (or vise verse) what would you call it? Silat! Tant01 In the shadow of the blade is death... Karambits seem to be gaining popularity here in the USA. I own a few in addition to the other knives I use. Maybe I'll dig out posts from other threads to start new topics here? I've shared bits and chunks of things before...

Silat knife techniques are based on anatomy of human beings, the primary method(s) of deanimation include structural cutting of tendons and muscle groups.
Now, this can be applied to disarming or "defang" type defense or it can target vascular system or respiratory system... Take your pick. You either bleed to death, die of shock-trauma or suffocation... by letting air into the chest cavity and equalizing internal pressure with the atmosphere and your lung(s) collapse. ![]()

Hello,
I believe in order to study or learn knife defense one must know how the edge weapon is used and be familiar of angles of attack. In FMA practicing evading using the triangle as your base reference for footwork and body alignment from edge attackss would be helpful...using your upper limbs as tools for parrying, slapping, grabbing, disarming, etc. |
