In Pencak Silat you start out conditioning yourself to take the blocks and blows at the beginning of every session and this will prepair you for this. We did this by specifically placed slap blows steming from our upperarm all the way down to our hands (rotating top and bottom) and then we would go onto what was called monkey blockes, this was the begining basics for many other things because we did it in several sequences then adding foot work all of this going along at quite a fast pace. Everything with Pencak Silat is Hands On.

my friends, sorry to interrupt, i noticed some of us is using the word "langkas",if the actual meaning is "steps" or "pattern",or "striking stance"...then the word u mean is LANGKAH...directly translated as steps.keep up the good forum.

Salam mas Husnira,

I read that you have trained with Guru Jak Othman.

Does Jak still teach Harimau Berantai in KL? I train with one of his former students in the UK. I will be in Indonesia sometime next year & wondered if there is a possibility of doing some training with Jak in KL for a while?

Hormat dan terima kasih

actually i do not train with guru jak othman, but as a pesilat i do know the people in the circle.if are intersted in training with cikgu jak,he operates a martial art gym in selangor, try search the web for the center.its a kick boxing studio.as for me,i'm just a humble pesilat, trying to preserve the ancient art and to make it relevent to the modern world.

Default this is not mend to offend anybody

i don't think its applicable. honestly safer not learning this silat. it could get you in alot of problems if you ever get in a real fight. just being honest here. don't try and learn something which doesn't work. just because they call it a martial art and just because it was used a few hundred years ago doesn't make it good. look at the caveman we might as well learn caveman martial art.

so take my advise and go learn some real martial arts....

Is anyone gonna ban this troll?

Looks like he came and went.

Everyone's better off that way, I suppose.
