![]() | I'm going to hit this seminar in late May (23 to 25). This is supposed to be 3 straight days of pure Silat! http://www.cassmagda.com/07website/superSilat2.pdf The Magda Institute: History, Some Thoughts on Silat by Guro Cass Magda Silat seems to be the way to go for street self defense especially with multiple attackers. See you there. |

![]() | You should have an excellent time, I am guessing you are not a member of his school then, so if it your first time going to the MI you are in for a real treat. Guro Cass is one of the most knowledgeable instructors of Southeast Asian Martial Arts. I will not be there for this weekend, but I will be there for his Summer Camp: July 15th-19th. Buka Jalan is Guro Cass' system of silat, it is compromised of really effective sweeps and offsets with pukulan (devastating striking). I am a student and an instructor in his organization, so I might be biased, but I think you will have a great time and learning experience. |

Good to have you here. I hope you will follow up with a review of the event and share what you learned with us? If you are advertising for an event we have a forum board dedicated to seminars and events and it would be a good idea to post it there (as well) While I do not know (much) about Buka Jalan Silat I think it would be safe to bet that it is a hybrid style of silat and other arts. I would humbly advise you to take note of the footwork and closing methods. If a silat man is in front of you he may also be behind you.
