Hello everyone.
I am looking for anyone in the Fort Wayne, Indiana or surrounding area who is either curious about, proficient, or certified in Thai boxing, Filipino/Escrima/Silat fighting (including both weapons (rattan, knife fighting, blade work/machete, and unarmed) as well as combat grappling although sport grappling/BJJ and kick boxing is fine. My instructor left the state months ago and most of the dojo/studios that are more visible are usually Karate and TKD, and don't do the weapons training I prefer. Semi-formal teachers and students are welcome to contact me. I have no problems with "merely practicing" techniques in a garage if nothing else is available and I am still learning as I go. I trained under someone with Stephen Hayes-like instruction but found the weapons area solely lacking compared to Escrima. I'm hooked with the latter . . . perhaps it reflects the teacher's flaws with the former. Anyway, not to start a typical post about TKD vs. BJJ or that sort of thing, since it has been done to death on more than one site. I'm just interested in; -training -training -Dueling, sparing, learning, and more training! Thanks, C. |

I'm from Evansville, Indiana. I go to the Rising Phoenix Martial Arts Academy. I've been going there for 2 years. The Teach Jun Fan Gung Fu/JKD, FMA, Majapahit Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Combat Submission Wrestling/CSW. Its a good school. I don't know how far away you are but, if you are interested post again i'll email the address to you.

It is too bad Evansville is hours away from Fort Wayne; the Academy sounds right up my alley. |

Bump.
Just a brief note here. I did get a crack at training with Muay Thai and BJJ for over a year now, but (alas) I'm looking for even another instructor in the former, and now my BJJ training is on hiatus until my current teacher finds another practice hall to (literally) roll in. So, I'm still looking for more instructors/students to practice drills or sparring with (and Kali/Silat weapon practitioners are also welcome to contact me as well; I miss regular sessions as I used to do). I can travel to Auburn or New Haven outside of Fort Wayne, but anything over an hour one way is not feasible at this time. Although my evening shift schedule may pose a problem, I think I can flesh out something on a twice a week basis or so. Again, I have nothing against 'garage style' classes if an official school is not available; I've done this before. At any rate, feel free to contact me through PM, this thread, or email if anyone here is interested. C. |

Hi,
I am an instructor out of Warsaw, Indiana which is about 45 minutes West of Fort Wayne straight down US 30. I am an instructor in all of W. Hock Hocheim's Filipino-based systems (Archipelago Combatives, SDMS Combatives, Knife/Counter-Knife Combatives, etc.). I teach an Arnis-Jujitsu class here in Warsaw every Wednesday evening. I also offer seminars throughout the state, if there is interest. Feel free to visit my website for more information- http://www.geocities.com/combatives Contact me with any questions or concerns you might have. Steve Zorn, ICPS |
