Hi everyone. I've been browsing these forums for the past couple of weeks out of sheer interest and decided it was time to get in amongst it. This seems like an awesome forum with a whole lot of knowlegable people

I am just about to start Shinkyokushin at the Damashi Dojo just outside of Ballarat, Australia, but I have been reading up on different martial arts for ages (Not trying to say I'm knowlegable, 99% of you will know more than me, just saying taht I'm not going to be all "Mauy Thai? That sounds like what my mum cooks on Thursdays")

Welcome to the forum, and I have no idea what that is.

Shin kyokushin....must be yet another branch of kyokushin karate, Mas Oyama's art. Kyokushin is tight ...but yeah, mofo...I prefer muay thai.

Garland would be right. I thought about doing Muay Thai, but either God sent me a message, or just really wanted to **** me, the only Muay Thai gym/dojo/whatever you hip youngsters call it closed down during my 3 weeks of deciding. I'm happy as with my Shinkyokushin (Which I'll refer to as Kyokushin to save confusion, the only difference between the organisations is minor shit and politics.), it's physically demanding, and doesn't **** around going "You have to do the art for 3 years before you can contact spar". Don't mean to bag anyone doing a martial art like that, it just wasn't what I was personally looking for in a martial art, and it's something that I don't think would work for me.

Oh, and cheers for the welcome
