HygPer is on a distinguished road
Default Interested in other people's suggestions for a good feature...

Hi, I'm Kerstin and I'm 21 years old. I live in Cebu, Philippines, but I'm Swedish (originally from the wonderful city of Uppsala). I'm in the second term of my filmmaking degree at the International Academy of Film and Television(IAFT). Busy researching for my screen writing class. I'm interested in other peoples suggestions for a good feature. Always good to get together with like-minded folk.

Theme Music?

People say "Yo, Monkey, you're really funny lookin'"
that's all right 'cause I get things cookin'
Ya stare, ya glare, ya constantly try to compare me
but ya can't get near me
I give 'em more, see, and on the floor, B,
all the girls they adore me
Oh yes, ladies, I'm really bein' sincere
'cause in a 69 my humpty nose will tickle ya rear.
My nose is big, uh-uh I'm not ashamed
Big like a pickle, I'm still gettin' paid
I get laid by the ladies, ya know I'm in charge,
both how I'm livin' and my nose is large
I get stoopid, I shoot an arrow like Cupid,
I use a word that don't mean nothin', like looptid
I sang on Doowhutchalike, and if ya missed it,
I'm the one who said just grab 'em in the biscuits
Also told ya that I like to bite
Well, yeah, I guess it's obvious, I also like to write.
All ya had to do was give Monkey a chance
and now I'm gonna do my dance.

How about some zombie strippers?

They could save the world from an invasion of Alien Bruce Lee clones.

Research the role Philipino Martial Arts played against Spain's early attempt at colonizing them, target a few who stood out, put them togeher into two individuals, an old wise warrior and a younger rebel type. Then go from there. Believe me, you will not be dissapointed. If you think the fabled exploits of Ancient Greece's "300" (Spartans) were something, just research the warriors the Philipines produced. In fact, if you could pull it off, the perfect "old wise warrior" for your film would be Dan Inosanto (inosanto.com) - just look at his poetry with Philipino martial arts, the richness of it's warriors in his every expression. He's older now, so perfect for such a role - if you can pull it off - man, what a project that could be - good luck!

Swish of the Kris is a good resource for a project like that. Also worthy of interviews are the Sayoc family. They have a deep historical knowledge of the Filipino martial arts and the history of the people who developed them.

Dan Inosanto is possibly the most encyclopedic mind of our times when it comes to that subject, though, and Liberty's right - if you can manage to catch him between seminars, he's the go-to authority.

Of course, living in Cebu, you might also want to look up Leo Gaje's people. They're some of the most well-known in the region and have helped with similar projects in the past.
