Hello. I am new here. I am a mom with a six year old. My son and I do yoga together. I's amazing how flexable he is. I have also kickboxed for years. I also love boxing. My husband actually gave me a punching bag and new gloves for Christmas. You should see the looks on the people's faces at the sports store when he told them why he was buying it. You also have to keep in mind I am only 5'3" and 105lbs.
Anyhow, I own a construction company with my hubby and we also do fundraising for schools, churchs, etc. I look forward to getting to know everyone and I hope I can ask all the questions I have. Thanks, Stephanie |

Welcome Stephanie!!
Fire away with the questions. There are a number of very knowledgeable folks here (and some that pretend to be). William

Hello all. Thanks for responding. The biggest question I have is my son took karate for about a year and totally lost interest. I think the biggest reason was because the class was very relaxed. Another words maybe he needed something with more discipline and structure. (By the way he is six).
Do you guys have any suggestions? Have you found a different martial art to be better for younger kids? Thanks again. Stephanie |

I disagree about a more disciplined approach for six year olds. The children need more variety. They must feel in awe all the time, and feel accomplishments while at it. Nothing too difficult. Stuff they learn in five minutes. Train five to ten minutes maximum (preferably in a gamelike manner). Then next topic. The attention span will stretch in their teenage years, not before.
