If you join the armed forces with martial arts experience, don't talk about your martial arts experience, especially in H2H class otherwise it could get interesting.
It wouldn't hurt to take a little jiujitsu or judo.

Sean. I wouldn't bother. It won't impress them. Probably the opposite.
Spend your time running. And running........ Run with a pack on to. And do loads and loads of calisthenics, like press ups, pull ups and sit ups. And running. |

As I understand it they have a basic fitness test that consists of:
press ups - as many as possible in a minute sit ups - as many as poss in two minutes pull ups - they want you to do 20, but the "form" isnt strict" and a 1 1/2 mile run. You've got to get to the stage where you can do top figures at these. The ruinning is good, but I would suggest you up the distances, at least once per week. If you get through to basic training you'll be running with a pack on for miles and miles...... They also have an assault course at the training centre, and much of it relies on grip strength. If you can include rope climbing, so much the better. They have a wb site which outlines alot of the requirements. Put "Royal Marines" in your search engine, it shouldn't be too hard to find. |

If u particularly wanted to do one ju jitsu i think would prolly be the most useful i dunno why... i have never done it but i hear that armed forces places tend to use it for training purposes so it might help u out with stuff later on. Or maybe try ninpo i remember when i was training a while ago a guy there was joining the air force and was doing ninja for that.
