that actually didn't look all that bad, but i couldn't find out if that guy had any other prior experience in the ma's or where he was located...but it was supriseing considering i really didn't know anything about them![]()

The guy Rick Tews has sorta started his own offshoot of ninjitsu. I guess this is his version of a modern ninja or something. Some of it seems pretty worthwhile actually.

They have a rather large video section too. The sparring looks sorta bad but all in all its seems ok.
Videos are here http://www.totalwarrior.com/Video_Ga...o_gallery.html
This is his site on himself as well. Pretty good vid at the bottom, just click play movie and wait for load. Its a pretty long movie as well.

Yeah I know, I couldnt find anything either. But the more I saw the more it seem somewhat realistic. Of course I cant be sure untill I have tried them myself but they seem rather simplistic uses of bodily tourque and mechanics. Somewhat akidoish, but with less crap.
Anyway just thought I would post it, seemed interesting.
ya i was suprised at how effective it looked. i liked the sparring concepts he was trying to imply, like not hitting the wall or the red spots on the floor or you get 10 pushups. i liked that. almost seemed jkdish to me but with katana's instead of knives. to be honest i was impressed. wish i could find something on this guy though![]()

Those were some pretty weak takedowns those ninja were attempting!

Those clips are what he calls king of the mat or something. It sort of a regular grappling match but he adds diff rules. Some of them are from before the people have even learned anything, he just throws them into the ring and sees what they know and what they dont.

Guys,
i´ve been practicing Aikido for 10 years now and do not agree with the mentionned "crap" shadowkiller wrote, although I do think there is a lot of unrealistic trainning out there.
The thing is - what is the situation you will face and how is your opponent prepared. I think, all of us tend to generalize considering that we will encounter one big guy with, at least, basic knowledge of MA´s.
I dunno, but in my experience it is generally not the case. Moreover, if you talk about Ninjutsu, it is more than just a MA, it is a complete set of techniques devised do inflict guerrilla-like situations in your enemy. Due to the large number of issues you have to learn, I doubt it is an easy task. On the other hand, it is a very broad, straithforward technique, despite some TKD like super kicks, which tend to give a little "demonstration-like" presentation of the art.
Naturally the sparring and takedown trainning was not at great level but was very intense and, for sure, served the purpose it was set to - expose the individual in an almost realistic situation.
Again, I pose the question - how will you use your art ? Aikido has been very helpful in keeping my head cool, life balanced and keeping me from "destroying" the opponent, whenever a conflict situation arised, by merelly redirecting its power.
On the other hand, I do cross-train with kick-boxing and bjj/judo, in order to complete my abilities, which I think is necessary in most arts.
In resume, we have got to abstract what we feel is the "right path" of a martial art and absorb the best of each different style, the way we think fit our needs.
