Why? It must be a very safe place as no one there knows how to fight.

True!...In that case I would take a "Womens Self Defense" class...as that would be more effective than either of those styles!

Karate is a slow/hard style, that follows the Block...Then Hit method.
Kempo is a quick/ hard style, that follows the Block it 30 times...Then Hit method.

If those are you only 2 options, then I would suggest not training at all, at least this way when you get beat up, they won't laugh at you for trying to defend yourself with an ineffective style.

I would suggest reviewing the "British Self Defense" thread and follow the suggestions of the instructor in the video...the "Windmill" defense.

Don't waste your time TKD is for sport, not for Self-Defense.

if i had to choose, i would go with the shorinji kempo(as it is a form of karate as well)
what style of karate is it?
i mean if it's straight okinawan karate, then no, but if it's like kyokushin, then i would definetly advise in you talking that
do a little more research, then we can help you with more detail

its wado kai karate , the first japanese karate. taken from okinawan karate and put some jiu-jitsu with it. lots of attention paid to avoiding strikes , footwork, etc. the only diff here is that shorinji kempo doesnt do a lot of sparring as much wado does. i dont know . im lost
