True!...In that case I would take a "Womens Self Defense" class...as that would be more effective than either of those styles!Originally Posted by jubaji

so neither of these styles are effective at all. wow im hooped.![]()
Karate is a slow/hard style, that follows the Block...Then Hit method.
Kempo is a quick/ hard style, that follows the Block it 30 times...Then Hit method.
If those are you only 2 options, then I would suggest not training at all, at least this way when you get beat up, they won't laugh at you for trying to defend yourself with an ineffective style.
I would suggest reviewing the "British Self Defense" thread and follow the suggestions of the instructor in the video...the "Windmill" defense.
what about tae kwon do ? i think there a dojo close by?![]()
Don't waste your time TKD is for sport, not for Self-Defense.
if i had to choose, i would go with the shorinji kempo(as it is a form of karate as well)Originally Posted by georgie

i mean if it's straight okinawan karate, then no, but if it's like kyokushin, then i would definetly advise in you talking that
do a little more research, then we can help you with more detail
"Before you open your mouth to speak, please make sure it's an
improvement upon the silence."
its wado kai karate , the first japanese karate. taken from okinawan karate and put some jiu-jitsu with it. lots of attention paid to avoiding strikes , footwork, etc. the only diff here is that shorinji kempo doesnt do a lot of sparring as much wado does. i dont know . im lost![]()
you need to visit both schools to find out which you prefer, then get in were you fit in.
damn alotta you fools are mean to newcomers who ask questions
to those who do talk smack, lick my 7 inch penis
for those who dont, you ight
Nah, they are just a bit cynical because of there is alot of crap out there being pushed as self defense.
i always appreciate any thing you guys tell me. im the rookie and thats why im here. you guys are mostly very experienced in what im just beginning. so i thank you for the advice and time you've given me. i ask a lot of questions but thats how im learning. its nice to have experienced martial artists to help me.![]()
