TSD is both a hard and soft style, derriving hardness from Soo Bahk, and soft flowing movements from Northen Chinese systems.

edit:I cant belive i bought into this ^ lies, lies. TSD is shotokan with a Korean name and an emphasis on hip movement.

The judo clips were the best,
The karate was very karate, not so bad for karate but more arms than anything else

Fist

The Sai Form was a good form, But it lacked polish and and intensity. His manual dexterity with the sai was good, but needed to be more defined and fluid. The half mooning through the form is designed to bring the power to the sai from the hips, making the sai an extension of the artist not an attachment. The staff Basics were just that, good basics. Can't comment on the judo, but every time I see a good judo clip, I wish I could do that. Thanks for the thread, I love vid clips, and I live for forms.

Aye his hip movement was a bit static and lacked decent power.

Gotta dig that mullet though!

Its all Chuck Norris's fault lol. Him being one of the reasons karate became so popular.

Did he even study karate though? i know his main art was Tang Soo and i know he also had a high rank in TKD, so why is he always associated with karate?

Korean karate is what he started studying at least that is what he says. He started when he was doing his tour of duty as an MP in korea. Then when he came back to america he started studying a bunch of other japanese karate styles. In his book he refers to tang soo doo as korean karate and not by its name.

He is also a blackbelt in judo if I am not mistaken. Or at least some higher ranking in it.

His first class was with H. U. Lee the founder of the American Taekwondo Association. Mr. Norris sent a nice letter which was read at H.U. Lee's funeral a few years ago.

Orignally H.U. used the term Karate because people were already familiar with it.

Its strange how TSD is often reffered to as Korean karate. I know in my federation it is never compared to, or thought of as anything to do with Karate.
Maybe it was just to make it more accessable to the USA in the Karate craze.

loved the judo clips, but they were too fast for me to give much of a critique . The Seionage was a tad low, in competition the guy you're throwing would just lean on you so if you like to go that low i would just throw a drop Seio. I could only really see that one cause it's shown in the still shot before the video begins! The tomoe was impressive, i'm still tryin to get mine that fast. I'm gonna watch again and try to pause it alot so i may be back with updates

Oh yea one more, the Osoto in this video is exemplary. A lot of people seem to think it's just a trip but look at the upward force he's applying with his hands.

I liked the judo clip. Couldnt help smiling at how differently i'd always heard the throws pronounced though

Reminds me of how little luck I had with tomoenage. When at judo it just didnt work for me, or any of my peers so we were probably doing it wrong. At ju-jitsu it worked better but scared the hell out of me every time i was thrown with it... good times. I miss ju jitsu sometimes.

Thanks for the videos
