You certainly watch sportive fighting and understand its validity.
No, I thought Rickson was pretty impressive in his fights (of the Gracies I've seen fight tapes of, he's by far the most impressive). He dominated, could actually throw punches, worked for better position rather than pulling guard (which I've seen many BJJ fighters do, weak tactic), butt-scooting, grabbing a leg and dragging the opponent down, etc...

Alright so obviously the Gracies aren't all a punch of pussies and GJJ isn't a shitty martial art, huh?

Also, including his fight with Saku (a much larger man), Royler has a professional figthing record of 5-3-1, and he isn't fighting in some moronic underground cercuit, hes fighting on Pride and K-1, he is a premier fighter without a doubt (though he may not have a record like Walderlie, he has been in there duking it out with the best of them, and has a winning record). It is also undoubtable that Royler is one of the single BEST submission grapplers in the world today, excelling at the highest level of competition.

Saying that none of "them" (Gracies? BJJ practicioners?) have takedown and all "they" do is try to pull people into gaurd based on this single fight is absurd. Royler has taken down more people than you can shake a stick at, and is likely to have submitted 95% of them once he got on the ground.

You cannot insult Royler, the Gracies, and SURELY not GJJ based on this fight alone.

Rickson isn't the only Gracie or BJJ guy who doesn't simply pull gaurd.

I don't think anyone is saying that... Even Boarspear has been to the BJJ/GJJ buffet... It's a good game. If you like that stuff?

Even the traditional dudes dig it.

Ground positioning is pretty unique, and though it is certainly found in Judo, BJJ emphisizes it more and goes into a lot of detail in gi/no gi submissioning and possitioning, it has its place in sport combat (CERTAINLY) and is valid in the street as well, people get taken down all the damn time.

What y'all are trying to say is that wrestling is the superior art to know.

I don't really consider wrestling a martial art, though it has many many benefits in combat.

I also don't like giving people my back.

I don't learn how to harm anyone in wrestling, just take them down and pin them. Wrestling is obviously a combat sport, and obviously the oldest of combat sports, but it isn't a system emphisizing self defense, and even if it were, craddling the guy who was trying to mug you isn't all that great. Its a sport that has a lot to do with strenth, agression, and grappling skill, but wrestling (folkstyle, freestyle, greco) in itself is not a martial art.

^Yeah huh?

I've learned plenty, takedowns and takedown defence being the most valid for me. I would never do a tilt and get back points on the street. Combat sport.
