I dunno, but I've seen some fat judo guys.
Have any of you been able to use Judo in a real life situation?
Has Judo kept you in shape, and do they train you hard?
Also, I would like to know if anyone knows of any good Judo schools in queens ny, or even in manhatten.
Thanks!

I think judo woul be a good add-on to your style if you had a good grounding in a martial art like kung-fu or karate (with punches and kicking). But, like, aikido, I can't really see it being that useful as 100% of your self-defense.

Yep. Drunk dude and I hit the ground. I just held him close to me in my guard for like two seconds before the nearby people grabbed him off of me. Didn't apply a submission hold or anything, but the most important thing was that I didn't get hurt.Originally Posted by jigmastermatt

Hmm, I wouldn't doubt there would be a lot of judo schools up there if you researched it. And if there aren't, you can always join up a BJJ school. I know Renzo Gracie has his up there in midtown Manhattan.Originally Posted by jigmastermatt
