I was thinking about getting back into Karate. I used to do Shoto Kan. I heard the Okinawan Styles are pretty interesting. They do hard and soft techniques and also these breathing katas that are good for you.
So has anyone out there done Shorin-Ryu Karate, and could you tell me about it? Is it mostly striking? Would it be very different from Shoto Kan? Would it be ok for someone in there 30'S? Anything about it would be great. Thanks. |

Im in Shorin Ryu and find it very good. I had a MT background and have found the change to be pretty easy. Its alot of footwork. My dojo web site is www.ewcdojo.com I am fortunate that my dojo can trace its history to some of the greats in Karate history. I would describe it as the streetfighting of karate...... we're strikers by nature but we will sweep and go to the ground if we have to.
