The Samurai of feudal Japan and the Spartans of Ancient Greece are two of the most outstanding warrior groups in history, and each were probably the best warriors of their time. What would happen if a Samurai army and a Spartan army met in battle? Vote on who you think would win, and give some reasons why.

As long as you rule out firearms which the Samurai used
It would probably be the spartans, Their armor was significantly better. Their tactics would have nullified the archery, and calvary of the samurai. The use of spears and shields would make hand to hand combat very difficult as well. if the samurai were able to get behind the spartan or flank them, they would have a better chance. or if they were able to get the formation to break in some way. Additionally the Katana's used would hot have had enough weight to damage the spartan shields or armor.

The Samauri would win because of superior strategy. The Samauri would show up at the battlefield a couple days early and conceal themselves in the shadows. Then when the Spartans showed up, they would be slaughtered in a well executed Ambush.

whether they would win or not is up in the air. They may have the element of suprise, but I'm guessing that feudal Japanese were probably smaller in stature than the fat-vegetarians (thanks Tree ) and may not be able to get through the Spartans armor...so what it really boils down to is this: Should one eat Japanese food or Italian food tonight?

Shouldn't there be a law against these "Muhammed Ali vs the Warrior People of Omacron Persiai 8" type threads?
They are a toxic forum pollutant!

I'm thinking a homemade pizza with vine-ripened tomatoes, feta cheese, spicy chicken and spinach.

What about three-hundred Spartans at the Hot Gates vs two-thousand samurai and one 12 inch tall Bruce Lee dressed in drag?

Well, If he sides up with Jet Li and Jack Chan then he would have a nasty little squad---destined to make history.
