Default How did Oyama train?

I know he was isolated, but what did he really do, and how do you develop that kind of power?

Is Karate different from Muay Thai? Can I develop a punch like that over time?

Masutatsu Oyama July 27, 1923-April 26, 1994

-Began to study martial arts at age 9

-He trained alone on Mt. Minoubu for 14 months but was then forced to leave because his supporter stopped supporting him

-Months later, after he had won the Karate Section of Japanese National Martial Arts Championships, he was distraught that he had not reached his original goal to train in the mountains for three years, so he went into solitude again, this time on Mt. Kiyosumi and he trained there for 18 months

-He then trained with Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of shotokan

-He trained with Funakoshi for two years, then studied Goju Ryu karate for several years with So Nei Chu, {i believe he was a 9th dan in Goju-Ryu}

~kyokushinkai karate is the strongest form of karate you can find..i traned in it for 5 months and it really helped me..my body became much stronger and i could take hits; i left because i was sick from all the katas and all the moves that i had to do to get the first belt. If you want to gain Mas Oyama's power & all that stick with kyokushin for a while and see what you could gain from it, if it doesnt help, try a different style of martial arts

Actually he trained under the son of Gichin, the one that introduced the elongated stances and the principle of O Waza Ko Waza ( staring with large movements/stances/techniques gradually working to smaller/shorter ones)
