Question East Asian languages

How many of you are proficient in the Japanese language? (Or Mandarin Chinese, or any East Asian languages for that matter?)

I can get by on the trains and order food in Japanese (either learn that or starve!) but other than that, my Japanese is pretty poor. I can speak a fair bit, but don't have the experience to understand it when spoken to me.

I've got medium level proficiency in an East Asian language, but its getting rustier as the days go by.

I've decided to up my proficiency this summer - I'm taking refreshers in both Japanese and Mandarin.

Thumbs up Re :

I'm not taking a Japanese language class right now, so I'm trying to keep my skills from deteriorating too much by using LangLearner through their podcasts. Tools like this can be a great supplement to language learning, but there's nothing like an in-person tutor. Japanese and many more languages. I'm learning Languages with this tool it's very helpful and I hope it helps you.

I can speak, read and write Japanese, but have difficulty with anything printed before the war.

I understand more spoken Japanese than I can speak. Mostly learned it from watching subtitled anime.
