Default alignment power puzzle!

How does alignment get it's power?

I think this is what it is... but i need confirmation... I am really just pointing in the dark.

-The speed of the hand extending and aligning with the body at impact causes the structure and alignment of your body to come into play, and serves to 'allow' the hand to move freely into the bag, whilst the body's structure is loaded, and does not move, which gives the extended arm the force of the body's structure, without the body even moving!
(this is only an example of the principle, not an actual punch, i know in a punch there would be other factors)

Thanks in advance, the answer to this will hopefully solve all my queries on power, kinetic energy, force, and structure, combined!!
I wish you all the best on your journeys of enlightenment.

Alignment is the answer for how to push a string. Okay, not really but that is a pretty good analogy. The best technique to illustrate what I mean is the straight lead of JKD. The first thing to move is the attacking arm. However, most people end up simply arm punching whilst trying to do this. They send out the arm loosely (which is correct at a certain phase of the technique) but any body they put into their punch is disconnected to the fist due to the looseness of the arm. This causes some people to stiffen up, which telegraphs the blow and makes it pushy, or reject the straight lead in favor of punches that are thrown from the shoulder (i.e. boxing style, which should also be incorporated in any serious JKD man's arsenal). Alignment takes place at the crucial instant at the end of your lead punch and allows you to make use of the muscles in your legs and back while still starting the punch non-telegraphically. Do you see the "pushing the string" analogy?

i liked what gungfuH said, and i agree...

alignment gives power but there are other elements in play...

relaxation of the ligaments, tendons, and musculature

if you mean you are trying to connect the body for power and determine its structure you must break down each movement into 10s, 100s, and 1000s of parts...

what i mean is follow what Bruce said, punch from the toe to the fist. the fist leads, but the feet push, the waist twists "like a wheel" and that momentum helps move the arm...

when you are relaxed the tendons can be stretched and open, they are cocked like a bow, drawing tension, your fist the arrow - and that is how it must be released, like a shot, it is let loose and flies to its target like lightning...

and excellent book that can help you attain this is :

The Tao of Yichuan: Warriors of Stillness ...

it's a book completely on body connectivity and the standing practices of Taijiquan...

don't be skeptical, it will greatly improve your boxing skills...

hope that helped

EY TEKSHOW,
WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF THAT BOOK? I CHECKED EBAY AND AMAZON AND CAME UP WITH NOTHING. ALSO, OUT OF CURIOSITY, HAVE YOU EVER READ "THE WARRIOR WITHIN" BY JOHN LITTLE ON BRUCE LEE'S PHILOSOPHY OF JKD? IT IS A GREAT BOOK AS WELL.
