I am interested in learning about the Shredder and purchasing some tape(s) from Senshido, but I am not quite sure which is right for me. I've read Bri Thai's reviews regarding Senshido and the video "Defence against Most Common Attacks" and Bitty's review of the "Shredder Package". I was wondering what exactly the difference is between the two. Is the Shredder not taught in the Common attacks series?
So basically what I am asking is which series is most EFFECTIVE for the cost. What I want to get out of the tapes I buy is realistic street defense and some weapons defense. Also, is a training partner needed to grasp the knowledge in the tapes?

The tapes have been made over a period of time, so the art is evolving. The earlier tapes make no reference to the Shredder, though you can see it in its infancy.
My advice would be this. If you already have a "core" set of techniques that you train, you can benefit massively by buying the Shredder Package. It is an excellent tool to add to your current training. But if you want to become a Senshido student? Start at the beginning and work your way through the tapes. |

I have most of the Senshido tapes are they are all excellent, some of the best instructionals I have seen and own. Rich's tapes are generally ninety minutes or longer compared to most fifty minute tapes out there for a higher cost. He very rarely rehashes his materials so each tape is unique and the titles pretty much describes the content. The shredder delux package is an excellent set and it does cover some knife stuff in it but it isn't a knife tape set at all. Rich's main focus is on the behavioral delivery system in most of his work, you just can't go wrong with any of his work in my opinion. Check out his site www.senshido.com for the description of his tapes. Contact him personally as well if you need info he's a very nice and down to earth guy, will talk to you like he's known you for years. Tell him I sent you, maybe I'll get a discount on my future orders

Not likely Rashid, Bitty's been kissing his ass for almost a year now to no effect.
Unless of course Bitty's been getting discounts and not saying anything! In all seriousness, I agree with Rashid. Dimitri is one of those guys who sells stuff and is willing to back it up with emails/discussions/seminars to help people learn what he's trying to teach. Get off your cheap lazy ass Jared and spend some money. If you weren't my sisters kid I'da kicked you out a long time ago you shiftless so-and-so. ![]() Spanky |
