Default Ankle Weights

Does anybody use ankle weights when training? I feel it can help foot work and kicking of course. What are your views? Does anyone do certain excercises or drills with them on?

How about the hop. After all, you'll be hopping like a one legged fairy after knackering your groin by kicking with weights on your feet.

I've done leg weight kicks before, I used 20lb leg weights. You need to be very cautious about not over extending your knee. But other than that I had no problems. It takes awhile to get to head high kicks though. I don't do much head high kickin anymore, but it did help with leg strength.

I've used ankle weights before for kicking and running and whatnot but I heard that it's really bad for you so I stopped. When I was using them though, after you take them off you feel a lot lighter and kicks are faster. It was a cool feeling actually.
