I haven't purchased them but I have seem some of them. Ron has done a top notch job not only in the production quality but also in categorizing all of the techniques, training methods and requirements for achieving rank under MARS (Martial Arts Research Systems). Whether you plan on seeking an instructorship under Ron or not, the DVD set is very well structured and does an excellent job in cataloging all of the various aspects of Jun Fan Gung Fu.

    8 DVD's Retail Price $699.99

    ----

That's crazy. That's $87.50 per dvd and they don't even allow someone to buy just one dvd. They force the set on people who are dumb enough to buy them. I wouldn't spend that amount of money on eight instructional videos even if Bruce Lee was resurrected from the grave and taught on them himself. Stay away from instructors trying to make a quick buck by selling instructional materials at a rediculous price. JKD is their money making vehicle. You're better off getting some JKD tapes cheap on ebay.

I won't either argue for or against the price, but I will say this: If you can afford them, it is my opinion that the collection of material that Ron has put together is top notch and relatively comprehensive. Regardless of the price, I think it's very well put together.

    8 DVD's Retail Price $699.99

That is bull! If Bruce Lee were alive you wouldn't pay $699.99. Then you don't want to learn JKD. On the 8 DVD set you are getting a complete system, Beginning to Instructors material. I bet people pay out $699.99 for 3 to 4 seminars. Is someone supposed to give away everything for nothing or should I say $89.99?

Wow, that is high. Guro Inosanto's material isn't even that expensive. I'd like to really see what he is teaching for that amount of money. There is a lot of the "curriculum" that many don't even know exists. If he's teaching that, I could understand the price a little better. However, he would also be kind of cutting his own throat in doing so, so I would bet that material is NOT on the DVDs.

Maybe you should spend that money on Matt Thornton or Paul Vunak's videos instead.

these DVD's are worth the money, he teaches the curriculum as if you were a student at the academy instead of a seminar student, how many people know ung moon? or all the ping choy gwa choy series? the entire dummy sets?it is all there. it really is good.

Man that's expensive! I'm trying to keep my gas tank full and also be able to still obtain some halfway decent Booze (thanks Mike B.)

Cost is a relative thing. Those DVDs hold a phenomenal amount of material, and are superbly presented. For Jun Fan, there isn't a more comprehensive set of DVDs.

Right, now thats out of the way, you're damn right Chris. If its a choice between Ron Balicki or Henry K Duff, I'm off to Moe's.

Sifu Balicki or Pointman Productions always have copies of the set listed on ebay and you can generally pick them up for under $200 - I think I got my set for about $160, and they are very well put together, produced, and packaged. I found the series well worth the cost.

I have the DVD's and the amount of information and detail given during the instruction is worth alot more that what they are charging.

You will need some hands on training with someone who knows what they are doing to truely get some of the material. Don Chi and Chi Sao for example.

You can buy them seperately at pointmanproductions.com
