Default JKD interpretation question

Im really curious about my own interpretation of JKD and im wonderin if its close . if i were to take a basic fencing course( for footworking) , a basic boxing course( footworking, puches and combos), to study a classical art(karate, taekwondo, kung fu etc.), basic grappling and trapping and practised everything that fit me as a fighter from each of these arts ( like combos of classic art blocks, boxing art combo followed by grappling or trapping to end things fast ) would i be practising true jeet kune do ? i mean it is only the persons interpretation of it that makes it "the way of no way". am i off on this or not?

i think you are mentioning those things because that is what bruce did
but, let me emphasize that
"That is what Bruce Lee did"
im pretty sure you are not bruce lee. he did those things because they worked for him. what works for him, may not necissarily(sp?) work for you. you have to experiement, reasearch, not copy

Smile True

im not bruce lee but these things i would like to study are proven to be effective. you need good footwork to be an effective fighter. true? boxing and fencing offer some of if not the best examples of amazing footwork. a high number of fights tend to go to the ground . true? the best art to use for groundfighting is without a doubt some sort of grappling. why not use proven methods of combat. just because someone else discovered these things to be effective for combat doesnt mean we shouldnt use them. they work. im not gonna study muay thai for footworking when i know boxers have better and more efficient footwork. i want to waste as little time as i need to to get better and more effecient. not to say muay thai isnt effective( it is) just want the best for my time and energy. thanx for the help guys!!!

To start out JKD was what Bruce did. And if He was alive today .It still would be. As he taught. BUT personal aspects can extend over to other concepts of use. But JKD in its whole will still be the steps of trainiing That Bruce developed. To be JKD you just flow from it the way only you can. No robot. But free to find within its teachings to use what works for you. Extended JKD is just that. If you put this and that together with out never training the real jkd. It will never be JKD. But it will be a mixed M/A . which if it works for you Great so be it. BUt do not call It JKD. Because its not. Extended JKd can take on a JKD name as such. But remember that is yours or some one elses Path Teach it as such. Not as the original . No one will ever be no more then who they are. And only you the person will ever do but your JKD or any M/A art. And the person will be as good as they can be Or let there self become. We all have limitations. So we all are different A M/A is just a path of training. Doing is understanding . The door opens and shuts. There is alot out there. JKd has a method to train. And so does An extended JKD method. From there is freedom.
