I think it's great. Once you get an opponent going backwards, keep him there. I first learned it in wing chun chain punching, then strait blast, and now more recently as Burton Richardson's Boxing blast. Ultimately the question is, does it work for you? Give it an honest try, it really helped my arsenal, but if you don't have the same success, disregard it in favor of another technique you like better Mahalo, Jeremy | |

![]() | Once you got the correct technique for it, then the straight blast is very effective. The only problem I have found with it, is that its better to use it in the middle of the ring, if I use it when their next to the ropes, then sometimes they can get a front kick in when their back is up against the ropes. But that means I just need to work on the speed of it.

![]() | I use and teach it. I think it is an extremly good tool to have in the tool box. It can go places a Jab can't because of being turned with the thumb to the sky. Gruhn

![]() | I prefer the shuffle for the following reasons: 1) easier to maintain the propper distance for the blast 2) easier to employ follow techniques since your basic position isn't violated 3) easier to disengage the blast if something goes wrong The shuffling step seems to be more efficient, less limiting tactically and easier to control than running or walking. |

![]() | A great example of effective strait blast was the UFC fight between Vitor Belfort and Marvin Eastman. I can't remember which event it was in, but Vitor used what looked like strait (boxing) blast to back Eastman up and set up one of the most vicious knee strikes I've ever seen to end the fight. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's worth checking out. I'm not sure if Belfort's ever trained in the specific technique of strait blast, but he's a member of the Brazillian olympic boxing team. Mahalo, Jeremy
