Any Jeet Kune Do dojo's in Michigan?

ive searched all over and cant find any near me or even in michigan. if any of u guys know of any please post it here cause id like to look into it.


Also if there arent any, and learning this style isnt possible for where im located. would it be best to learn kung fu and go from there?

Im new to this really, but i wanted a long range style that could go into a close range one if situation called for it Hence JKD.

Not for competing or anything like that just for personal knowledge and to know how to handle myself.

And i also figured a style more focused on hands because your hands are generally faster, and in a real street fight it might not be practical to bust out the kicks.

Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

The Gym has recently relocated from Sterling Heights to Clawson (14 mile and Crooks) They have JKD, Jun Fan Gung fu, FMA, Muay Thai, Boxing, Submission Wrestling, BJJ...

Gracie BJJ is in La Grange IN and Inosanto style JKDC is in Kendallvile IN, both not too far from Michigan border. Also, Dan "The Beast" Severn has a school in Coldwater Mich. 20 miles no. of Ind border

this is waht im confused about though ... theses schools are they like boarding schools or what.... cause i was under the impression u just go 3 or 4 times a week... to this "school". if not and its more of a living situation right now isnt the best time since ill be doing college soon.

Enzo, CAN you get to Chicago four times per year for seminars with jkd guys and mma guys
at the Degerberg Academy? You could get good teaching quarterly and then lifts weights and hit the bag on your own!

not likely no, right no i have school ( im 17) but this is my last year of high school so in the future it will be much easier. I have no MA experience, but there is an MMA school at near my house which im gonna going to in the next week or so.

But i really was interested in JKD, just because of its fluidness, and effectiveness. So either i will ahve to wait till im a little older and am able to go out of town for these seminars, or just hope someone starts a Real JKD place near my house.

the one mentioned on a few above posts, went out of business im pretty sure, and that was like 15 miles away anyways.

If anyone wants to start a Good JKD gym in Michigan in the Sterling Heights, Utica, Troy, Shelby Township , Rochester areas ... I'LL BE YOUR FIRST MEMBER!!

If your refering to JKDGym, they just went through a name change with their relocation. It's still open. It's now Martial Arts Unlimited in Energetic Soul Studios at 1310 West 14 Mile Rd. Clawson, MI 48017 (248) 435-4030. I live in Royal Oak and it's the only JKD gym that I know of in the area. The next closest one is in Ann Arbor I think.
