From what I've seen, the difference between MMA and JKD is negligable, but this probably has more to do with the instructor than anything else. I train at a JKD school, but the training is the same as MMA, except for ignoring the rules for MMA competition, ie..No groin kick, eye gouge, fish hook ect.
In my opinion, with all due respect, both JKD and MMA are far superior to any single traditional art as they teach functional skills is all ranges of combat instead of sticking primarilly in one range ( kick, punch - stand up grappling - ground ).

Default My JKD is...

Not a style at all.

JKD is MMA and much more.

Default re

I think Jeremy is right on. MMA and JKD are both about real fighting.
Since the advent of UFC, everyone and his brother wants to cross-train
in jujitsu, muay thai, wrestling, and boxing, and that is the hybrid style. The Lee/Inosanto synthesis teaches the hybrid MMA style, but also many other things including FMA, other weapons systems, and trapping drills. Yes, MMA is part of JKD,but not all of it. The reality is that even Tae Kwon Do guys crosstrain now.
Since everyone crosstrains, martial arts is becoming all one thing, sort of like a one-world government. Anything else is BS and politics and money.
