!. Because of Bruce, Wing Chun (classical wc!!!!!) has become the second most popular style of Chinese boxing worldwide, and the most popluar (Taijiquan) is taught as a form of moving yoga. So if WC is the leading fighting Chinese system, it is because of its association with Bruce's name.
2. Several hundred martial arts schools trace their lineage to Bruce, while many others have adopted huge portions of Lee's and Dan's teachings. 3. All striking styles, including TKD and Shotokan, have gained countless students over the years because of Bruce Lee movies. 4. Bruce advanced techniques of speed development and short-range power beyond the normal MA curricula. 5. Bruce was the first person to combine eastern and western fighting into a coherent, logical system. 6. Bruce popularized the intellectual side of the arts to a greater extent than all other authors combined. In light of his great historic influence, I don't give a rat's butt if he lost to Wong Jak, Grandma Moses, or Ruth Buzzi. |

I won't argue the other points but this (#5) is simply not true. He was the most popular MAist to combine "eastern and western fighting" but not the first. Bhakti Negara silat is one such blend of arts. (Founded in 1955)

good point. Also;Sombo.
In any case ,what is significant is that Lee built up his attributes thru WC training, then decided at a certain point not to fight like WC. Classical wc develops a unique set of attributes that can be valuable even if one does not ever use centerline dominance in a fight. |
