most people u will be getting situations with are most likely people at bars, crackheads and homless people, the kids who wear g unit and wear sideways hats and walk with a limp, and jocks. not martial arts masters and ufc fighters. u dont need to a master to use these techniques efficiently. u just need fast reflexes and lots of calm while fighting so u can see exactly whats going on.
Maybe for some people. The people I'm most likely to get in altercations with are grown men, most of them ex-felons, and all of them fight. Some of them I've known for over a decade, and some come from other large cities to mingle for a while before moving on. Many are drug dealers, factory workers, or just a-hole alcoholics. Believing that I can KO a person with one punch (1 strike-1 Kill); doesnt work for me. If that would happen I would be greatful, but I have to be prepared to keep going continuiously from one attack to another-never giving my opponent a chance to get his bearings. It is basic stuff, but really how long does it take to "Master" the basics? You just get better and better. A white-belt and a black-belt do the same techniques...a black belt just does them better.

A boxer or MT guy with "3yrs competition experience" is a pretty experienced fighter. More so than almost anyone else that spends 3 years in their art. All I'm saying is that 2 more years down the road they will be even better than they were at 3yrs. There is no end to improvement. That is why they say it takes a lifetime to master.

how many times have u gotten in fights with these people? also are u actively putting yourself in situation were u are in contact with such people or work a job were u have to be around them, cause then its all your choice. most regular people dont want to hang out with felons and bad crowds or in places were the congregate. and if u are regularly in such situations than u need more than just martial arts alone anyway. u need weapons to really defend yourself.

of course nobody relies only one technique. even regular people with no training will try to hit u mulptiple times again and again till your done. isnt that the whole point? u realizing the need for hitting somoene again and again till there done doesnt set u apart from anyone else. not even karate guys will do that on the street even though thats how they point spar in the dojo or incompetition. they are going to keep hitting u till your finished in a real situation.

and yeah techniques can be mastered, but u dont need to have mastered them in order to use them effectively and consistently which was my point. a bjj blue belt will be able to use ju jitsu extremely effectively and consistently, but he is far from a master. same with a 3 year boxer, which was my original point. of course they will get better if they keep training. u keep stating the obvious and keep missing the point.
