Nobody can answer a question like this. It all depends on the teacher and how dedicated the student is. If I had to choose between learning the two it'd be Kung Fu though.

If you must use force, make it excessive.

The question alone should be grounds for capital punishment!

Watch some Shaw Brothers films side by side with some Sonny Chiba. Then you'll know!

first lesson in the martial arts, its not the system, its the man in the system.

Bruce lee or kano or Helio would have made any art look impressive...just like rosie o donnel or pee wee herman could make any art look useless...its the person, not the art.

ANY art can get you killed if YOU arent "wired" to defend yourself.

I dunno. I wouldn't want to run into Pee Wee Herman in a dark alley. Or worse yet, a dark movie theatre.

    It depends on styles .
In battle, pretend to be weak when you are really strong , and strong when you are really weak.

There are no deadly arts. There are only deadly men.

karate comes from shaolin if you search its roots all japanese systems come from china, just like all of the japanese weapons they are decended from earlyer chinese versions,

chinese combat style Vs karate, neither one is better, both are useless and both are very effective, depends on who is teaching and who is learning,

Just like origami, bonsai and kanji... Right? Art and literature wouldn't exist in Japan without China...
