I was at Best Buy the other day and I purchased an instructional video by Dan Inosanto and Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee speaks on JKD punches having more power and efficency than a classical Karate punch. It also shows an experiment that was conducted by a MA master from Japan or Japanese American--I can't recall his name---but WHAT IS THE FORM(ula) FOR A POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE YET POWERFUL JKD PUNCH? SHOULD I USE A PUNCHING BAG?

It depends on the punch but in regards to all of them I like to remember:

Look up "hammer principle"... Tim Tackett has an article published on the Internet that describes JKD punching well enough.
