Pretty much yeah.....

There are some people who are delusional and you won't convince them no matter what you do. She says he doesn't need to know how to ground fight? Maybe approach it like this. No, maybe he doesn't need to be the best ground fighter in the word. But at least he needs to know how to get position, get out of position, and counter some of the moves. Try to make the case that in this day and age a lot of people grapple, and from a self defense stand point it doesn't make sense not at least have some knowledge in it.

If that doesn't work....well hell like you said at least she swallows!

You need to do it again and again... Use some Judo throws and tell him the names of the techniques as you do them. Tell him cheating would be poking him in the eyes or kicking him in the balls or using a knife during the friendly match....

Choke his ass out untill he decides he needs to learn some real "art"...

Frank Zappa once said that "Art is making something out of nothing then selling it!"

Default Play it cool ... rember blood is thicker then water

There is only one real question here, is she 100% convinced of what she is saying ? I guess not! In my opinion she is [subconciosly] defending her father; and this is a 'natural' mental mecanism of the ego. Don't try to explain anything, don't force a logical analyzation of real combat because you're dealing with there emotions, not there logic. I am sure that her father is ashamed for getting beat and that he knows he will louse on the ground - even if he will never admit it - so in my point of view there is nothing to prove. If you start an endless debait on the subject, you will be closed minded, because you will get between family and there you will louse. So take my advice and turn this into a win-win situation: you allready proved your skill, now just have sex with the gall

Challenge him to a rematch and let him win. By knockout, if possible. If you have to, knock yourself out without him noticing and let him think he did it.

Maybe show her a copy of that Rickson Gracie documentary Choke. The early UFC videos are good to show the effectiveness of grappling, especially showing Royce defeat his opponents without seriously hurting them, but they might seem a little "brutal" and "street-fighter-ish" because of the way they are produced. I would show her some BJJ/submission grappling tournament videos - ADCC footage or something like that. - Play up the submissions aspect - you can defeat without injuring. Maybe invite him to the next local BJJ tournament, sit with him and explain the matches as they happen.

I think defeating her father hurt his ego, but more importantly, his self-confidence. Prior to the fight, he was sure that if any young punk tried to mess with his daughter, he could wipe the floor with him. You showed him the limitations of his skill. He tried to indimate you (as I probably would have too in his place) and failed. I agree with SwissPrecision - don't debate things to death, but find a way to allow him to save face.

Better yet - take him down, but put yourself in an armbar and tap out!

Best advice so far! WAY BETTER than MINE!!! I'm just the kind of ass that enjoys embarassing martial artists! Not so good if you like the daughter of one!

Boar has the right idea. He's allready pissed off her father (really bad) and therefore her. Unless there's another way.......

My suggestion was to make ammends with take-out boxes of Chinese food, a Bruce Lee vid and maybe UFC 2 so that he could see what the ground game is all about.

You know EyeGrouge, if it weren't for her being great in bed, I'd just give her a big poster of your picture you have, the "How About a Nice Big Cup of Shut the F*** Up. Think Before You Say Something Stupid."

I think that applies EXACTLY to this girl and her father. Cheating is if you agree to fight her father, and both of you promised NOT to use any ground techniques.

Default WOw interesting.

There is no way you can put a quote into their mind and make it so that they understand. His father has been trained by systems specifically. Like governmental and society. So he is stuck to a certain way of life and he taught her to be the same. This stuff you only learn and it is all you know. Everyone is like this if you can see this in yourself you can see it in anyone because you are not different in a fundamental aspect. what I mean by that You are conditioned by what you know as everyone, you fear, get emotional, depressed by things that bother you etc.., as I can see what you are saying. If you can see it in yourself than you will not need to change them because all of the emotions and fears you learn are knowledge as well as books and philosophies that you read. Which are useless and hold no truths but ideas just like what Im saying to you now. If it concerns you and you do not understand what they mean by all of that, just communicate but dont just follow what I say, see it for yourself otherwise what I or anyone says is an idea and not true. Take care

I love that part about "cheating!" Fighting includes cheating. It's one of the best strategies!

Like Hock Hochheim says - cheat at the beginning, cheat in the middle and cheat at the end.
