We will be hosting Tim Tackett for a JKD seminar in Georgetown Tx ( just north of Austin ) on July 22 & 23, 2006.
Tim brings over 40 years of training and experience with him to Texas. Tim was there during the early days of JKD, and has seen and been a part of it's evolution since 1970.. Check out the flyer for more info at the web site listed below. http://www.kajukenbo-combatives.com/id32.htm Feel free to call or email for more information. - u.s.karate@verizon.net - 512-869-2615 Hope to see you there. Thanks. Dean.

Do you have anything special you would like to see? We'll review how to get power in your kicks and punches, making trapping work in the real world, advanced footwork and distance training, broken rhythm and defense against grappling. I'm open to suggestions, but it must be something I can do and teach.

Thanks for the call, Sifu, looking forward to the seminar.
Quick question for the both of you: I have a friend that's in the process of moving to Austin who's into sport kickboxing and grappling; I think he would really enjoy Jeet Kune Do, but he's a little leery of most martial arts (particularly stuff like the gi, belt rank, bowing in, no contact, etc.) His repsonse when I mentioned the seminar was that he's "not a karate guy." I don't want to twist his arm or anything, but having worked with him I think it may be just his kind of thing. What would you say to such a guy? |

Britt, Have him check out the website.. We have lot's of different programs based on what people want to do. - Hawaiian Kenpo / Kajukenbo = Plenty of contact - JKD / Kickboxing = Sparring every class - Filipino Martial Arts = Plenty of sparring ( stick, knife & hand to hand ) - BJJ = Rolling every class We don't bow... We shake hands... Not everyone wants to do Karate, and not everyone wants to be the next ultimate fighter.. We have programs that will accommodate most people, as long as they really want to train.. Bring him with you to Tim's seminar, and he will see what we are talking about. Take care Dean.

Just a short note to thank Sifu Tim for another great seminar.
Every time he visits, I better understand not only the "how", but the "why" of what he teaches... ( but I still got a long way to go ) Also Sifu Willie Wilson made it down, and shared some great info on short range / in close punching, and developing short range power... Willie knows his stuff, and was able to pass it on very well... I hope he can make it to Vegas to share this with everyone. Anyway great time had by all... Time to get back to work... Thanks again Sifu. Dean.

I had a really great time as well; thanks to Sifus Goldade, Tackett, and Wilson for an absolutely great seminar. Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgable (instructors, students, and guests alike), and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing that group picture on your website.
