one inch or three inch punch

the mechanics for the punch have been "out there" for a long time, and my uncle used to practice De Mile's method from a pamphlet in the early 80s or
mid 80s. I am curious as to whether anyone has ever used the "power punch" for real, and if so what the context was.

    I'm your huckleberry

I did for the first time when I was 19. Was waiting for a bus late at night when I guy walking by and decided to pick a fight with me. He stepped within arms length and I held my hand out (palms facing inwards, right hand extended farther than the left) and told him, "I wasn't interested in a fight tonight". He moved in closer and when I felt his body (rib cage area) touch the back of the finger on my right hand I tensed and released. It knocked him back a few steps. He turned and walked away without saying one word to me.

This is my first post due to lack of time to read here much or post. Same reason why I haven't finished my profile. It says I need some ad code or something.... Anyhow I've trained with John Daniels on and off since 1990. A lot less time when you have kids….

Same here with the lack of time to post. I just read though.
My experience with the 1 inch punch came from a friend of mine who studied Tae Kwon Dao. We always talked about each others styles and made comparisons. Now, I don't condone this action but this is what happened.

It was a Sat. night and the wife and I went out for dinner and ended up at this bar that I bartended at. My firiends were there and the conversation about Bruce Lee arose. We talked about the 1 inch punch and I had told them that I trained and practiced that for nearly 2 years. They, being slightly tipsy,
wanted a small demo. I first said "NO", but later I felt it would have been good for both the school and the arts.
I concentrated for approx. 30 seconds, then shifted my hips as my friend was holding his beer in his right hand. The beer went flying 8 feet over the bar, he held his arm and complained he had no feeling in it.
That was the first and last time I ever performed that. It worked, and yet really scared me. Everybody else laughed at him, but I knew better.

So, be careful what you wish for.......

What a town you live in, I would have had to try and wrestle the gun and machety out of his had after that.lol
There are always braggarts who think themselves clever. They say of other boxing that at one glance they know it. They dont realise that while at one glance they knew it, if they look again they wont know it.
