Hi everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself...........Im from scotland and had started martial arts last year some point with Wing Chun....I wasnt sure if this was something I was going to like but I loved it.........Cos of work I had to put a stop to it as it was only 2nights a week but I started going to a JKD academy last month as they are open most days and I can go in whenever I feel like.....................I like JKD, I was wanting to know other peoples experiences of JKD as in relation to other martial arts...........for example I have done Wing Chun before and I loved it....I cant make up my mind to which I would prefer......although every martial art has its goodness.
Make sure you guys at least say hello, speak to you guys later.

Why did Dan Inosanto stop going there? Was it just because he is busy or something or any other reason? |

The early JKD Bruce Lee taught was heavily based on Wing Chun, as taught by Yip Man. As Bruce Lee was exposed to other styles during his return to the U.S. he incorporated more western boxing into JKD.
Having said that, my experience with JKD is that it is a non-traditional martial art that focuses more on real world use compared to some more "traditional" arts. Take a look at Bruce Lee's Fighting Method , if it's still available in print, for a deeper look into what it's about. |
