Default Hey, a JKD K-1 Competitor!

Hey guys, stayed in tonight. Surfing around I came across this K-1 fight. I don't want to spoil it, but you have got to see this!

Question: He appears self-trained - commnets please. Also, he seems to have some ability, but no business in there yet. Whatdayathink?

Drum roll, please..... Let the laughter begin! God, this thing was funny!

Here's another - tough to find, but I've found 2 or 3 - here's one of em - a Wing Chun vs a Grappler free spar. Now I know why WC does not need to train in "ground."

Forgot this one - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu vs a Tae Kwon Do/Thai Boxing/Wing Chun guy. Some nice intricacies;

Dude wore a freaking Game of Death jumpsuit into the ring. Nuff said.

He appeared stuck in the movies is what he appeared. Even the techniques he did land seemed pushy and ineffective. You're right, Lib. No business in that ring.

Looks like a (Pee-Wee) TKD guy that watched a few too many kung fu movies?

Heh. I'm not going to watch the clip. But that's pretty funny - and makes me want to watch it.

I need to buy me a Game of Death jumpsuit now. And then run around the town in Ray Bans and cause mischief.

Maybe the police would at least appreciate my sense of humor.

This guy may be a decent instr. but if you are going to do k-1 or kickboxing, you should not wear a jeet kune do tracksuit. If you get your butt kicked, you give yet more ammo to haters of Bruce Lee.

Correction: Game of Death tracksuit. I don't recall it ever being the recommended Jeet Kune Do uniform.

But I agree. No one should ever wear one. Ever. Bruce shouldn't have worn one for that matter.

these guys both looked terrible. the jkd guy was for sure stuck in martial arts movie fantasies while the kickboxer guy must have only been training in kickboxing for 2 or 3 months only.

I was thinking I should train all my beginner classes in that tracksuit.

HAH.

That would be pretty funny.

"Yeah, I show up thinking it will be pretty cool, and the guy is dressed like freaking bruce lee in game of death - tear drop sunglasses and all! and we were indoors boxing!? Freaking fruit loop..I think I'll check out the local Rickson school instead..."

Or, better still, I should dress like "Bruce Leroy" in "The Last Dragon" or whatever the hell that movie was called. God, it was a riot - I couldn't figure out if it was all tongue and cheek or if the makers of it were serious.
