Is that the deal? It's an ancient Egyptian fighting art? Where does it end? Have we really run that low on ideas?
This isn't specific to Egypt or anything, but there's a related issue on my mind. Personally, I have long wondered why there's such a fascination with learning the fighting arts of conquered people anyway. Shouldn't we, assuming we really are in pursuit of what works, be studying the arts used to conquer them instead? Just a thought. Of course, I suppose it can't hurt to be ready in case bears decide to take over. I wonder what the Black Belt test is like for these folks, anyway? |

where did egyptians get a bear anyway? I always wondered why we can't find bears in the desert, it's because those bastards killed them all. Yeah that's it.

They used to buy them on the web, cos Egyptians had the internet thousands of years ago, along with spaceships, time travel, and Dr Pepper. (my history is a little hazy)
I think people have a fascination for studying ancient arts of conquered people because they are still desperately looking for lost, hidden, magic secrets in martial arts that will make them invincible, bear killing immortals. They want this ability without having to work for it or find it themselves, they want to borrow an easy path. This, of course, doesn't exist. Its hard for many people to accept that martial arts is like any other endeavour in life be that learning an instrument, raising a family or, indeed, killing a bear - its bloody hard work. That is what I give full credit to MMA for, it has dispelled so many myths and removed all of the excuses. |
