Default Rick Faye

Just a quick vid from Sifu Rick Faye's Instructor Conference in February of last year, in Minneapolis. Rick is feeding some basic Jun Fan drills and I am fortunate enough to be on the end of them.

I first met Rick in the late 90's, and have since had the good fortune to become his student, friend, and and instructor in the Minnesota Kali Group. The way he breaks down the arts and teaches is, in my opinion, world class. Rick stands alongside the people who I feel have a true talent for articulate and charasmatic instruction such as Paul Vunak, Erik Paulson, and of course Guro Dan Inosanto.

Rick is one of only four living Senior Full Instructors under Guro Inosanto, and his team in MKG International has become a world renowned organisation.

I don't post this thread to overtly advertise Rick, its just that he doesn't get the recognition of so many other more high profile teachers. If you ever get the chance to train with Rick I strongly recommend that you do so, he has had a big influence on the way I train and teach the martial arts.

Hope you enjoy the clip.

Thanks for sharing MW. Gotta love the basics!

That's good stuff!

I found JFJKD through a little known associate instructor named Hal Faulkner.

Speaking of folks who go unrecognized...

press on.

Oh I see, like that little crowd of people who hover round Guro at every seminar.

You're not one of them.

(now I'll get accused of hugging your nuts)

Small world, eh? LOL I don't know Hal or his wife Jill too well but I would be happy to indroduce you. I could give you his phone number if you want to ask him yourself?

He's a great guy. Might be getting too old for "someday" though...

Thanks Michael for posting. I was at that seminar as a up ans coming instructor. I really appreciate Rick and what he does for the martial arts community. I have had the opportunity to train with Rick and if you have a chance to do the same, take advantage of it. You will learn a ton and have a great time doing it.

(BTW I was the big guy that Diana used in her self defense presentation.)

Sure, I remember you, Diana does like to push the big guys around doesn't she! That was a great time last year in MN, I learned so much.

I'd dearly love to come to the Seattle camp in May, but I have so many other commitments this year its just not going to work. Next year hopefully.

Whoops - I knew I stayed away too long - I signed off as nuthugger. I was poking fun at myself for going on about you and about Michael's cool clip.... Now I feel bad. Sorry about that guys. You know I luv ya both. Think I'll go hang myself - wait - "into a soul free from all..." Whew! Close call! Well, I hope you're happy - I almost lost my life over this - I mean... my freedom, I mean my Liberty! No, wait, I'm Liberty..

Well, that clears that up!

Nah, he's too short. Yeah, I greatly admire the man, but I'd rather be identified with, hmmm, let me see.... that's a tough one..

I used to be schizophrenic. Or was that my other side. Oh man, if only Bruce were here. I could sit on the ground and look up to him...

Long day...
