Hey Phillyman
I don't know if you HAVE to go to NYC, but in Princeton New Jersey (closer to Philly than NYC) there is a VERY good JKD school. It comes highly recommended. Check it out at www.PAMAUSA.com. |

It really depends on the level of the class. At higher levels there is a lot of sparring but in general I would say we are "reality" focused school. By that I mean, we follow Bruce Lee's philosophy of testing to see what is useful and what is not. We do not limit ourselves to drills or sparring but instead we make sure what they teach works and works for you as an individual (you need both sides.) To that end, both internally and in tournaments, our students spend a lot of time applying what they learn. We have a very successful track record in NAGA tourneys, and also at amatuer NHB, boxing and muay Thai. We also do a far amount of stick fighting in the school.
You are welcome to come by and watch a class or see some of our fighters April 20th at Church Street Boxing. Ask around, I think you'll find our reputation is what you would expect from a Guro Insanto certified school. I hope you decide to stop by. Neil
