JKD Dummy sets

This is my first post so please forgive me if it doesn't turn out.

I'm in the process of learning 10 JKD dummy sets and was wondering if anyone here new of any books that had all of the sets listed or if anyone had them listed in a format that they could send to me

Guro Inosanto,
Discussed the wooden dummy sets briefly at the last seminar in Tulsa. He stated certain sections from the original wing chun 108 set form was used but they were broken into sets which worked certain methods or areas he believed were important. I was not able to follow the whole discussion because my wing chun knowledge is limited.

I have seen other tapes which were said to be JKD wooden dummy sets and they included boxing/kickboxing style strikes to close the distance and some movements which looked like double leg takedowns. I do not know if these were part of an official set or freelancing.

I do believe that these sets that I'm learning are an "official" thing. My instructor has shown us variations on each set, such as the way they are done at the Inosanto Academy now and the way that he originally learned them. I'm not sure who he got them from I suppose I should just ask.........duh........ I only know one of them so far, but have started to learn one that you might have been referring to, one that incorporates headbutts and knees. Though for all I know these motions could be in the traditional wing chun sets as well....I don't have a classical background. I don't know if these are the same sets that are on the various posters with pictures of Guro Inosanto that I have seen or not.

I was just hoping to find some more material on them to supplement my own training.

I would be interested in the progressions you were shown. I have several books onthe 108 movements which are broken into sets which I recognized at the seminar (But I have not fully learned).

The way we did it at the seminar was we were shown movements form the sets and then certain movements were isolated and worked in context with a partner. My notes were horrible during this section of the seminar.

Do the sets you are learning have the boxing/ kickboxing structure blended in?

There are 10 Jun Fan Dummy sets. They do borrow heavily from the Wing Chun 108.
I believe there are roughly 8 or so Jeet Kune Do dummy sets which Guro Inosanto never teaches and openly admits that he may not even remember all of them. He says he would rather have Sensei Yori and his other Jun Fan instructors teach them. All the sets come from a variety of different sources and some do start in kickboxing range.
As far as printed material containing the sets I believe there was an article by Tim Tackett a few years ago in Inside Kung Fu where he demonstrated some Jun Fan sets.
A video of the sets was made by a former student several years ago to the extreme dismay of Simo Paula and the Academy and I believe his instructorship was revoked.

There is the Jun Fan Dummy set which is based on the Wing Chun Mook Yeung Jong set, and there is the JKD set which is 10 sets, as taught to me by Guro Damon Caro, but he also mentioned that no one remembered the 7th set, so it seems to be lost to antiquity. But to watch Guro Damon or Sensei Yori do the sets are pretty cool. Both are very, very smooth!

TO the mattmo and the to the other jkd clan here.. i want to post something about that i met a very good jkd teacher through here and i have purchased his tape on the jun fun dummy sets 1-10 .
out of my surprise his tape was so great!! it was so instructional , helpful and he goes through all the techniques on the dummy and explains very well there purpase and and concept of doing the wooden dummy. his tape was so good that im already buying more tapes from him.. he has the jun fun dummy sets 1-10 its not expensive at all and a very reasonable price for what he teaches.. and the ohter tapes he is doing now is FMA trapping .on the stlyes of panantukan, and dumog which is FMA best and combative trapping .. .TO be honest , I reccomend any serious JKD praticioner to buy these tapes cause it boosted up my training faster and more progressable then ever. so guys.. trust my on this get the tapes.. im sure he has more tapes on the line so please go to his website or email him ...he is a great teacher and person in general so what are you all waiting for go and contact him and buy the tapes..
