![]() | But according to Ted Wong I think.... (Could be wrong) He said something along the lines of JKD being a concept but it still had to have the fundamental techniques and concepts that make up JKD. As I said I could be wrong but I remember reading that a few years ago. Otherwise I guess it's still JKD. Bruce Lee said to add your own experiences and make it your own.

![]() | jeet kune do is a formless shapeless style bruce lee said it is forever changing and is never the same and anyone can use it and if the name jeet kune do turns into a style then get rid of the name for it is just a name so pretty much anything can be called jeet kune do as long as it is some type of fighting i guess

![]() | wrong, jkd has a foundation and it includes economy of motion, directness, simplicity. To just mix and mash things together is'nt being formless it's just combinding. not to say it's bad but it's not jkd

![]() | What if you took those into account and conducted the same research but with different results? As times and culture change, so do fighting methods and their believed effectiveness. It was believed not long ago that the art to learn was Karate or TKD, after the first UFC's it was believed that Brazilian JiuJitsu was the only style that mattered. Nowadays the belief is that wrestling and either Boxing or Muay Thai are just as important as being able to deliver an armbar or leg lock. What I'm talking about isn't just taking what looks cool and wanting to learn that but taking what one believes to be effective based on the tenets of the concepts that Bruce Lee lay the ground for and not getting the same results as Bruce Lee himself. |

![]() | but jkd has a foundation and if you don't know it then how can you claim to be doing jkd? BL researched and came up with what he felt was best.it is up to the individual to get a good understanding of these base fundamentals and adapt them to fit your own way and as for as time changes so should your MA, well my understanding is a finger jab to the eyes/throat, kick to the groin, etc worked 1000 yrs agao and it still works today

However, if your goal is to do your own thing and walk your own path then that is great, but then why feel the need to use another man’s label? Do your own thing, call it your own thing, be your own man. | |
