Burton Richardson seminar review

Well what can is say besides what an awesome experience having Burton Richardson visiting South Africa. Besides being a great gentleman, Burton resembles everything what a true Martial Artists should be i.e great fighter, great technician, awesome teacher and a even better character & attitude. He conducted a 2 day seminar in Johannesburg South Africa on May 12 & 13. There were 4 main segments over the two days which were divided into : 1. Weapons 2. Stand Up 3. Clinching 4. Grappling
The entire seminar was based on performance orientated training now wonder he has trademarked his Organization Jeet Kune Do Unlimited with the slogan 'High Performance Martial Arts'. During the seminar all techniques were tested under full resistance in all the ranges and everybody had a great time to find out for themselves what is 'Martial' And what is 'Art'. Burton then complimented the training with video footage of full contact matches with the dog brothers, pride 13 matches in Japan etc. Seminars participants were again amazed with Burton's expertise by analysing all the fights and helping everybody in becoming complete Martial Artists. I think very few JKD instructors is taking the path Burton decided to take. A person can clearly see it in the way he trains & teaches that he means it when he says things like 'If you want to learn how to fight, train against somebody who is fighting back' and ' Knowledge is not power, but the ability to apply your knowledge is true power'
I would encourage anybody to get some training with Burton Richardson. This is a man that is on the cutting edge of the Martial Arts today and is right up there with all the latest training methods & techniques.
