    Default Mike Mentzer

My good friend and strength coach Mike Mentzer passed away this weekend from a heart attack. Mike was world renowned as a bodybuilder, and more recently as being on the cutting edge of strength training. I know many fighters and martial artists who use his methods with great results. I just spoke with him last Friday, as he wanted to get the articles I had written about him for his website. He was to shoot a video on his training program over the weekend, but it was not to be. As a sidenote, his brother Ray was ill, and Mike was going to donate a kidney to him. Ray passed away last night.
Mike was full of life and enthusiasm on Friday, and we had many plans to work together in the future. For those who knew his work, it lives on. For those who don't, check it out. Enjoy each day!

    Default Condolescences

    Hello Burton,

I am shocked to hear of Mentzer brother's untimely passing.
My sympathies go to their family and friends.

If there is an afterlife, I'm sure Mike's doing some heavy duty training there.

I knew Mike a little from talking to him at Gold's. I'm certified in Medx and am an old high-intensity training aficionado. His philosophy of training is excellent for those who train in martial arts.
I will miss seeing him around, he was quite an interesting guy.

One of my private students was a long time student of Mike's as well, and he informed me of the unfortunate event a day or two later. The strength training and body building concepts Mentzer used were truly outstanding, and he touched a lot of lives in living his own. He will be truly missed.

Hi, I had never heard of him. Please explain some of the gentleman’s ideas.
